Robert, I checked the services list. there are about plus servicess listed and of them it looks like about or so are running. I looked at each of the services that are set for manual configuration and do not see any spicific service that may address my issues. Is there a spicific service I sould be looking for? Check your dashboard.

Just to verify, I am working with windows server essentials. This new essentials dashboard does not indicate whether the server is on or off line. I reviewed every tab, menu and sub menu but see nothing about server line status. Sorry to be a problem but I do appraise your help. All of my machines are able to connect and sign into LaunchPad, except one that reports the server as being offline, when it clearly isn’t. I’m running out of things to check as the configuration of both the server and client PC appear to be fine.

Robert Pearman SBS MVP itauthority. TCP I noticed that this started just after I installed the patch from KB, which makes a fair amount of updates to the Dashboard. It appears to me that the clients are all connected, but that the Essentials Server just isn’t processing them. Or could there be a need for a client side update too?

I don’t see how the two items marked as answers are an answer they are diagnosis actions. I don’t want to have to uninstall and reinstall all of the machines that is silly. Clean install of WSE, 2 Win 8 Pro clients and 1 Win 7 HP.

None of the clients are part of the Domain – I have skipped using a domain through the reg edit workaround. I have noticed that if I reboot the server from one of the clients, after the server comes back online Dashboard and Launchpad both show the server as offline. I can access it as a remote desktop session through Windows though. Logging on directly to the server shows all of the clients as “offline” in the “Devices” page, but shows the server as online.

I seem to have stumbled across one scenario that seems to work:. Dashboard, under “Devices”, then shows the computer as online. Seems to be a repeatable scenario this despite sounding like a strange work around of sorts.

Does anyone have an idea what might be going on underneath this? Is anyone else who is having this problem able to replicate this? Hi all, Ive jus posted in my thread a change that has resolved this issue in my particular case. It may be worth a try, and as such I copy the information below:.

An update on this – as the Microsoft support guys have been great working the first issue through with me – Dashboard reports the server is offline. We tried everything – and I mean everything – and we eventually found that in my own scenario clients not part of the server domain – perhaps this is a key point the issue was resolved by setting each of my clients with a static IP address. We configured the DNS to point to the server as primary, and the gateway i.

router as secondary for the times when the server is not on. We found that the server was being reported as offline because the clients were resolving the server name to the incorrect IP address – the IP address of another laptop that has been using our home network but is part of a Domain my wife’s laptop from work.

I cant say for sure that this will fix the issue for everyone, but it has worked a treat for me and I’m now much happier. The Machine was reporting as offline in the dashboard. A quick check and the PC could Ping the server but the server could not ping the desktop Turned out that my firewall application was blocking ICMP and the ports needed for the Essentials server i guess.

Disabled the firewall, restarted and it worked.. Just needed to add a entry in to allow traffic from my Server to my PC. ok I just glimpsed this, but I had same issue all my nodes were showing offline when the machines were on. the cause was avg anti-virus, removed it rebooted nodes show online etc. installed avg nodes still show as online. I think avg probably blocking ports that connector and launch need.

I’ll put a call into avg. TechNet Products IT Resources Downloads Training Support Products Windows Windows Server System Center Microsoft Edge. Office Office Exchange Server.
